A quick selfie or I guess groupie before the ride began! We went to Saguaro Lake Ranch for our trail ride. It was a beautiful drive there and we were very excited about the ride.
Megan and I are very much beginners. We have gone on a ride or two before, but that is it! Megan tends to me a little unsure about animals that are larger than her!
Michaela is a pro. She rides English and knows her way around horses. She has taught me a lot about them since she has been here. And she always has an answer for my questions!
Joelle has had 2 lessons so far and has really learned a lot. She of course wants to have a lesson every week, and we are working on that. The best part is that I have learned from her lessons as well and I felt very comfortable on the horse.
And we are ready to begin!
For our ride we were able to cross the Salt River and it was amazing!! Megan wasn't so sure and was a little leery because you couldn't see the bottom of the river. Luckily it was only about knee deep at that point and the horses did great. It was quite the experience.
After the river, we were on the trail and headed up, up, and up. The horses were great and followed each other well. Michaela was able to give Megan and I some pointers along the way which helped.
Joelle did a terrific job on the ride. She remembered what she had learned in her lessons and put that into practice. The guide even said she did a great job. We got to the top of the hill we were riding up and this was our view. It was gorgeous to see Saguaro Lake from this vantage point.
It was a little sad that the ride had to eventually end, but it did. Megan and Joelle both did great. Michaela we weren't worried about. While we were on the ride, the guide told us that there was a band of Wild Horses that lived around the river and the lake. We were hoping that we would catch a glimpse of them, but we didn't. I had no idea that there were still wild horses around, much less in Arizona! What a great thing to find out! The day was amazing and I can't wait until we can do it again!
