Getting Ready for Christmas

Birthday Book Club

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Last year for Christmas Steve bought me a Hot Air Balloon ride.  I was very excited to go, because I used to crew for a lady that had a hot air balloon.  To my surprise, many things have changed in the last 10 years.  Balloons aren't able to use public land like they used to so it is more difficult for the pilots to go up.
The balloon I used to crew for was about 90 cubic feet, and this one was about 250 cubic feet.  I was excited to be able to go up higher than I had before.

It was a gorgeous day and the temperatures were great.

We saw jack rabbits and coyotes in the desert.   At the highest, we flew about a mile up.

This is what the balloon looked like as it deflated...all the hot air is trapped and rises.

Thor is One!!

This is what Thor looked like when I got him.  He was about 8 weeks old and so very tiny!!

And this is Thor as he turns one!  This was one of the best decisions I made.  The students love him, Joelle loves him, and I love him.

Patches Gets Ready for Winter

It was pretty cold this winter so I got Patches a sweater!  To my shock, he keeps it on all day and doesn't ruin it!

Thanksgiving In LA!!

For once Joelle finally slept on the way to LA!

Selfie fun
Shhh, Daddy is sleeping
Joelle loves her Gma Pratt
Auntie Marie is teaching Joelle about seeds and how to compare them.  Joelle was very interested and wanted to plant the seeds to see if a tree would grow!

Gma and her big, Baby Boy!  We picked up David from Seal Beach when Kathleen and Megan headed back to Arizona for Megan's Basketball practices.

Rock em Sock em!!

New school fun with an old school game!

Varsity Football Banquet

Wow, the Varsity Football Banquet.  It seriously seems like just yesterday that he started playing Freshman ball!  David was blessed to meet many great guys and make some lifelong friends.  David proved to be very determined and let his perseverance show.  He was up early everyday for weights and then long practices after school in triple digit temperatures!  He played and practiced with heart.

It was clear after Coach Clatterbuck spoke that David was an integral part of the defensive scout team and preparing the offense for game time.  It wasn't the part he wanted to play, but he did it well!  In his speech he spoke of the players and how they truly were his brothers, that they were a family and stood by each other.  He played for them and that relationship and I think that says a lot about David and the man that he is becoming.

Visiting Grandma Again!!

We headed to LA to spend more quality time with Gma Pratt.  She was pretty sick for a while and in the hospital with pneumonia.  After she got out, she had a hard time taking her meds on time, so she was getting better but very slowly.  During this trip we got her a medication pill box that has an alarm on it so hopefully that will help.  She tends to tell the same story repeatedly, but she is more with it than last time we visited so that is good.  Every time we go to see her I am on a mission to make sure that I get photos of her with the kids.  She loves them so much and I think it made her feel much better knowing her grandbabies were there!!

Can you tell that Steve is not a big fan of pictures!!
Joelle had a blast all weekend long, Kyliah stayed with Andrew and Monique so they played NON STOP!
Joelle even got in some good play time with David.
Rough drive!!
