Pumpkin Carving Fun

Daddy has to help Joelle.  This is the first year she will have a pumpkin that was actually carved!  In previous years she painted her pumpkins.  Of course she doesn't want anything too scary on her pumpkin so Daddy had the good idea of using her shirt to draw from.

Joelle is so NOT that girl who likes the gooey things!  This was the only time she picked up the insides in her hand and it was only because I wanted a picture:)

Megan on the other hand had no problem getting the gooey in her hands... and on her clothes... and on the floor...

David is probably the smartest one of all, he took the smallest pumpkin knowing that he has less to dig out!
Daddy modified Joelle's pumpkin so it didn't take us all day long to do.  I was in charge of the mouth and I knocked a tooth out.  After that he didn't let me do any more.

David made his own UCLA template to carve his pumpkin.  The game must have still been on his mind!!

Megan did a Frankenstein face.  It turned out soooo good.  This was the first time she did everything on her own.  So proud of her!

Perry Homecoming 2012

We left the UCLA game early so that we could get David home and ready for his first Homecoming Dance!!  I know right, when did he get so old??  He looked so handsome.

Steve drove and they picked up his date Zarria.  Then they went to the park to meet with some friends and take pictures.  Don't they look cute!

After the park David, Zarria and their friends headed to Sauce for dinner.  Everyone liked the food!  After that it was off to the dance.  When David came home he said he had a good time.  When I asked about the music, it apparently wasn't the best, but with good friends there it didn't ruin the night!  It is hard to believe that we have entered this stage of life with him.  He has grown up so fast and so good (so far)!

UCLA v. ASU 2012

Family outing to the UCLA-ASU game, on the road and ready to go!  We are meeting Kathlene and Mike and the boys to do some tailgating before the game!

Silly faces are always fun to do!

I must say that I have been at plenty of tailing parties, but I have never been at one that had salmon!!  Steve always thinks of everything.  He even had a bloody mary bar set up in the back of the truck.

The portable gas grill was new so David had to put it together for us!  Thank goodness we didn't blow up when the propane came on:)

Our family and Kathlene are UCLA fans while Mike and his boys are ASU fans..... fun game!!
We had the best seats in the house.  We were right in front of the UCLA band.  It really makes a game more festive when you are so close to the band.  That and the fact that they were really good.

This was the view from our seats.  ASU stadium is great in the fact that there really aren't any bad seats.  The only down side was no shade made for a really hot day.  Luckily Joelle needed to go for little walks every now and then and I was stuck walking in the shade with her!  I mean we are at the end of October, it isn't supposed to still be 90 degrees in the sun!

Monster Mash

Every year my school has a Monster Mash where all the students and families are able to come to a dance in their Halloween costumes.  It is a HUGE hit with everyone.  Joelle gets the benefit of all my school events because I have to be there anyway.

She couldn't wait to play with Stuart's son Jack.  The two of them are almost inseparable at any event.  They were so cute dancing.

Joelle's best friend Julie goes to my school now.  They were very happy to hang out.  Don't they both look adorable.  When the dance finally ended they were so bummed out because they wanted to keep playing!

Charming Ponies Pumpkin Festival

The girls were so excited to go on some pony rides!  As you can see our chariot awaits!!

The petting zoo was great.  All the girls really liked being able to hold the animals and pet them.
Every one's favorites were a pair of baby ducks that were only 2 weeks old.  The ducks would snuggle with them and settle in for a little shut eye!!
Finally it was time for the main event...the pony rides!  Joelle couldn't wait to ride the unicorn.  The ponies were dressed up really cute.

Here they are striking a pose.  It was really windy and sunny that day as I am sure you can tell by all the eye squints!
Cinderella even showed up for a visit!  All in all it was a great time.

David Has a "Nose" For It!

Well, David began his Perry football career as an offensive lineman and ended it doing double duty as O-Line and Nose guard.  It was a good season and he learned a lot.  He became a dedicated athlete, getting up early on weekends to work out and trying to watch what he eats.  Those football practices were killer and he did it all without complaint and I think he may have even enjoyed it!  We enjoyed going to all the games and cheering him on.  I am pretty sure we have every down he played in on tape!

Megan is Balling!!

Steve told Megan to just post up at the blocks and the ball would come to her.  And it did, all game long!!  You can see her give Daddy props.    This is Megan's first time playing basketball and she amazes us each week with how she improves her game.  She is really starting to understand the game.

Sidelined due to fouls:(  She couldn't wait to get back in the game!  She is very competetive and that has really helped her hone her skills!

Joelle Dominates on the Soccer Field

Joelle really likes playing soccer.  She does get a little tired and she says it is hard to run fast the whole time:)  Before this game we talked about how instead of running next to a girl from the other team that she should just get in front and take the ball away.  WOW she really listened and got it.  She scored at least 8 goals (not really sure cuz we lost count but we have 8 video snippets where she scored).  She was a scoring machine!  And she had a blast.

Look at that form!  We are such proud parents:)

How I Spent My Fall Break!

Well, originally my plan for fall break was to paint the master bedroom and refinish the vanity in the kids bathroom. Since I had surgery right before break, that was out the window!! This is what I filled my time with!

So... I decided to cover the switch plates in my house.  This is from Megan's room.  She picked out the scrap paper herself.

This is from my laundry room.  I just love this fabric.  Earlier in the year I covered the letters for the word laundry with this fabric and now I just took it further!!
Joelle got a new bed so I made more handing pictures for her from her old window valance.  I also painted the bed red- it used to be blue.

These are the plates for Joelle's room.  David informed me that I was not allowed to do the ones in his room.  I will let him think he won... for now:)

After those 3 rooms were done I decided that I had to do the rest of my house.  I was just so excited with how it turned out.  It was a little time consuming, but very easy and super CHEAP!  This is how the bathroom turned out.

This is how the rest of the house turned out.  It really makes a huge difference.  Who would have thought!

I found this neat idea on Pinterest for hanging pictures with these old slack hangers.  I of course, just had to put my own touch on it with the fabric!!

I needed some sort of decor for above my mirror in the entry to the house.  This is what I made.

A House Divided!

Typically we all cheer for each other's teams....except when they end up playing each other!!
Joelle loves to see AJ Green catch the ball.

So it is pretty clear which team was the winning team!  It was a hard loss, but fun to watch with the family.
