Labor Day Weekend 2011

We had a VERY busy Labor Day weekend this year.  On Sunday we went to Reggie's house to hang out and enjoy good company.
Here are Joelle and KiKi in the pool at Reggie's.
Steve and I relaxing and having some good times.

The kids are getting the corn ready for the get together at our house on Monday.
David and his mother Jackie came.  We were so happy that Jackie brought the game Phase 10 and started a serious game right away.
Kiki, Julie and Joelle in the Dora tent.  The girls had sooooo much fun.  Joelle loves to share her toys and play when friends come over.
Joelle and Haley thinking that they needed to wear jackets.  It was 100 plus outside.  I guess like all good fashionistas, they are anxious to change up their wardrobe.

Joelle's New Hairstyle

The other night Joelle was having a hard time getting to sleep.  She really likes the Dr. Jean cds and songs and she always wants to listen to them when she goes to bed.  I think this has been causing her to stay up later because she is singing along and not trying to sleep.  So, the other night about an hour after being put to bed, she yells for us to be quiet.  I walk to her bedroom and she has opened the door and placed her pillow and blanket right in front of the door.  I told her no wonder it was too loud.  I put her back in the bed and went back to the family room.  An hour later I see and hear he in the hallway walking BACK to her bedroom.  When I get to her she is holding a chunk of hair in her hand and telling me that she cut her hair.  I FREAKED and when I asked her why she cut her hair, she said it was too long!  I put her back in bed (without music) and went to clean up her mess.  There was a dust pan full of hair in my bathroom.  Yep, she snuck out of her room, went into my bathroom, searched the drawers, found Steve's clippers, and got the scissors from there.  Here is the aftermath.....
I think she was trying to go for bangs in this picture.
She was headed for a mullet if she would have been able to get all the hair cut to the shorter length!
Thank goodness the damage was only hit or miss and there was still enough length to actually style her hair the same way and hide the fact that she cut it.

Tackle Football!

There's our boy!!  Let me set the scene..... it was a beautiful Saturday morning in Coolidge, AZ (and if you have never been there, you ain't missing a thing!).  The sun was out and the temperature was oh, somewhere in the 115s, 116s, or 117s.  Awesome right?  Game time was supposed to be 10am.  Ahhhh, that didn't happen.  I am not actually sure when it did finally begin, but it wasn't over until 1pm!!!  David was such a trooper, he only asked to come out of the game once for a water break and that was in the first quarter.
David is playing D-line and O-line and he ends up playing the entire game.  On a day like today, that is huge feat.

Toward the end of the game the center was injured and David was called in to fill the position. He got a few snaps in on the sideline before he had to go into the game.
And there he is.....  We lost the game and that was a bummer, but it was a great game to watch.  There is something about tackle football that gets the juices flowing more than flag football.  It was unbearable hot, but we did have a good time.

First Day of School 2011

Joelle is so excited to start the 3 year old room at Perry High School.  It is larger and has more toys and learning centers than the 2 year old room had.  At the end of the year last year, the 2's would go on trips to "check out" the room they would be in next year.

David is ready for 8th grade at San Tan Jr. High!
Megan is ready to begin 6th grade at Fulton.  She is pretty excited to be the oldest in the school.

Joelle's 3 year old pictures

Well, she is not exactly 3 in these pictures, more like 3 and a half, but I love the flowers in my mother's yard and I always try to get some good pictures.  I was especially happy with the ones I got this year.  We were getting ready to go to the airport when we stepped outside to get these shots.  Joelle is so photogenic and is always willing to pose for me!!  I look at these photos and they make me smile every time:)

Fish Fry 2

Tye and Dexter take the job of breading the fish very seriously.

Tracy's sister in law won a Bud Light party so we ended up having it at the cottage.  As you can see there were plenty of people and even more food.
Here are Grandma Dottie's brothers and sisters.  Lorraine (her back), Ralph to the right, Erv, Patty, and Annie on the left and Harold facing.  I love being able to come home in the summer and have a chance to see them all.  Because most of them live right around the lake, we always saw them.  Each summer we make sure to have a fish fry so they can see us and we can see them.
