Fun with the Family in LA

Joelle was so excited to go to Grandma's house. She couldn't wait to get to sleep in Grandma's bed:) Since we were in LA in early December, Joelle was so much more comfortable when we got there. Probably a little too comfortable, she talked every ones ear off and followed Grandma around.

We spent Friday night at Andrew's with some of the other family members and friends. The kids had a great time playing HORSE with their cousins AJ and Dorian.

Megan played her uncle Michael at HORSE and won!! She took down the Manuel Arts High basketball player!

Joelle had a ton of fun playing with her auntie Marie. Marie completely spoiled her! She got all kinds of junk food and tons of trinkets to play with.

David and Xavier played video games non-stop. Oh, I think they did take breaks to eat and maybe go the bathroom, but that was about all.

Steve and I all decked out ready for the big 5-0 birthday party for Monique!

Mo knows...How to Throw a Party!!

Monique turned 50 on Feb. 10th, 2011 and she planned a wonderful party to celebrate the occasion. The party was at the Double Tree in El Segundo. As you will see it was a classy affair. A good time was had by all.

"Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthday...."

Being Sick and Tired

Well, we have had so much going on the last few weeks I have been neglecting my duties of memory keeping for my family. First off, we have somewhere to live!! David and Megan are moving with their mom to a new house so they can move in with Mike and his boys, so that meant Kathlene's house was empty, enter us! This way the kids don't have to move into two new houses. We are looking forward to the move. Well, I am looking forward to getting out of a house that is going to be foreclosed on, but not the actual moving itself!
Joelle has been really sick the last 5 days. I got a call after work on Monday that Joelle had a temp of 102.6. When I got to the daycare, she was so pathetic. She was just miserable and shaking. We went home and began the Ibuprofen and Tylenol regiment. She was coughing non stop when I put her to bed so we went to urgent care. She was diagnosed with the flu and given Tamiflu. We had an appointment to see her pediatrician the next morning and since her cough never did stop, we did. He gave the same diagnosis and we got the Tamiflu and began giving her that. As long as she was medicated, she seemed okay. Finally on Thursday I thought her fever broke and we could both go back to school on Friday. My mistake, after a 4 hour nap, she woke up with a temp of 104:( Her darn cough is just horrible and may have even gotten worse, not better. I talked to the Dr on call and he said sometimes the fever can last 5 or more days with the flu. We are keeping her medicated and crossing our fingers that she will be better soon. As I type this she is working on a 4 1/2 hour nap (I am a little worried to get her up since I fear another fever). Well, that is about all I have at this time!

Moving

Yes, can you believe it, we have to move AGAIN!! Our landlord let the house go into foreclosure and 3 weeks ago we found out the house will be auctioned on March 14th. Steve even asked him about this months ago and we were assured that he was all good and he was going to have us sign another lease this January. The thought of having to pack up is making me lazy. I get home in the evenings and I just don't want to do anything because I know soon enough I will so busy and tired! On the positive side of things (gotta keep the faith right!) we are going to try to rent a place that will be closer to the junior high for both David and Megan. It will mean less driving. Joelle will probably have to switch high schools for her daycare when the next school year starts but she would be entering into a new classroom anyway so that transition should be just fine. Well, I guess this is just another new adventure:)

Birthday Wishes

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband!! Steve had a birthday on Monday and we celebrated over the weekend. On Friday the kids and I gave Steve our birthday cards. We wanted to surprise him and catch him off guard. He loved the cards

David was kind enough to even put some money in the card since he didn't have time to get Steve a gift. What an awesome kid:)
On Saturday Steve went golfing with friends. I have it on good authority that he whooped butt:) After golfing Steve came home and did some cooking. We had some friends over to help us celebrate and watch football bowl games.

On Sunday I surprised Steve and took him to the movies. We watched True Grit. It was a good movie, but a little slow. It was nice that we are able to put Joelle to bed and leave David and Megan in charge. I love "date" night. On Monday we ordered pizza and watched the National Championship Game together. I was a good weekend:)

Nothing Much

I really have no reason to be posting right now, other than I haven't in a while and I am feeling like I should. Christmas was great, New Years was great, and I have been back to work for a week. It's funny, when I am off of work I think I can't possibly be ready to go back. Then I spend one day back and wonder what I did all day when I was off.
Steve has been very busy with work ever since New Year's. He is always on the phone or trying to put out "fires". The kids got their report cards. David's GPA is 3.2!! We are so proud of how he is doing in Junior High. Megan had all B's. Megan is trying to be involved in as many after school activities as possible. She is in Battle of the Books, Newspaper Club, and she just joined the Running Club. David has tryouts for baseball next week. Joelle is very happy to be back at school and with her friends. When I told her she was going to be going back to school she got all excited, began jumping up and down and rattled off that she wanted to play outside at school. She is in a terrific daycare and I am so thankful that they take care of and love her. Steve's birthday is in a few days so I will have have more to say then.

Christmas 2010

The close to another wonderful Christmas is here. We anticipate this one day all year long and it is the fastest day of the year! This year I blinked and it was gone:( We had friends over on Christmas Eve and had a terrific night. When you don't have family nearby, it is such a blessing to have great friends to share the holidays with. The kids were all up way too late, even Joelle. They got to open their gifts from Grandma Pratt and Grandpa Bob and Grandma Ginny on Christmas Eve. The kids loved being able to open some presents early. After opening the presents, everyone went to bed. I woke up at about 7am. The house was still, not a creature was stirring, not even the kids. I quietly got out of bed (so I did not wake Steve) and went downstairs. I had a cup of coffee and a chance to relax a moment before the chaos hit. I actually got more than a moment, Steve finally had to wake the kids up at about 8am. I got Joelle up and she was NOT happy, but as soon as I said that Santa came and left presents to open- she popped right out of bed. It was a great morning. The kids all loved their gifts and we spent the rest of the day eating, playing, and resting. I blinked and it was time for bed.
