Gilbert Fall Carnival

So there was a small Fall Carnival in Gilbert and we of course had to go!!
The kids didn't so well on the carnival games!

Until Megan won a goldfish!!

Joelle likes rides and liked this dragon ride.
She was very pumped up to go on the Ferris Wheel.

The big kids won her a stuffed dog or two!
I am actually shocked that the bigs went on the scrambler.  They went on a rocking ride that went upside down and I was surprised that Megan made it off the ride.  She was screaming the whole time.  Michaela said her seatbelt came open and she was just trying to be still and make it off!!

Joelle really wanted to play the games like the big kids, but they just weren't games she could do.  For this gun shot game the worker had to basically hold the gun up for her because it was so heavy!
The last Ferris Wheel ride!
Joelle played the basketball game and got her own prize!!

Bumps and Bruises!

David tweaked his ankle at a Junior game!

Joelle's First Basketball Game!

Joelle has been so excited to play basketball.  She had her first game this past weekend and she was ready!  This girl sprinted down the court to get on defense and offense.  In all the time she played soccer she never ran that fast!!  There are only 7 kids on her team and only 5 were at the first game because of Fall Break so the kids all played the entire game.
She does need to practice dribbling!  She likes to try to just run with the ball, but we are trying to get her more comfortable with dribbling!!

And here she is scoring in her first ever basketball game!

Trail Ride-Bonding Time part 3

A quick selfie or I guess groupie before the ride began!  We went to Saguaro Lake Ranch for our trail ride.  It was a beautiful drive there and we were very excited about the ride.
Megan and I are very much beginners.  We have gone on a ride or two before, but that is it!  Megan tends to me a little unsure about animals that are larger than her!
Michaela is a pro.  She rides English and knows her way around horses.  She has taught me a lot about them since she has been here.  And she always has an answer for my questions!

Joelle has had 2 lessons so far and has really learned a lot.  She of course wants to have a lesson every week, and we are working on that.  The best part is that I have learned from her lessons as well and I felt very comfortable on the horse.

And we are ready to begin!
For our ride we were able to cross the Salt River and it was amazing!!  Megan wasn't so sure and was a little leery because you couldn't see the bottom of the river.  Luckily it was only about knee deep at that point and the horses did great.  It was quite the experience.

After the river, we were on the trail and headed up, up, and up.  The horses were great and followed each other well.  Michaela was able to give Megan and I some pointers along the way which helped.

Joelle did a terrific job on the ride.  She remembered what she had learned in her lessons and put that into practice.  The guide even said she did a great job.  We got to the top of the hill we were riding up and this was our view.  It was gorgeous to see Saguaro Lake from this vantage point.
It was a little sad that the ride had to eventually end, but it did.  Megan and Joelle both did great.  Michaela we weren't worried about.  While we were on the ride, the guide told us that there was a band of Wild Horses that lived around the river and the lake.  We were hoping that we would catch a glimpse of them, but we didn't.  I had no idea that there were still wild horses around, much less in Arizona!  What a great thing to find out!  The day was amazing and I can't wait until we can do it again!

Bonding Time part 2

Tea Cup Time!  This ride spins around and around and around!  It was hard to get good pictures of this ride!
Megan and Michaela are so tall that they barely fit in the cups!  It was hysterical to watch them try to get situated!
Michaela did the spinning and Megan just held on.  At one point she even closed her eyes!!
The Indy Car track!  The girls waited in line for a LONG time to get to drive the cars.  It was at least 45 minutes of wait time for about 5 minutes of fun!!  There was a competition going on, Megan and Michaela were both gunning to be the winner.

Well, even though Megan's car was let out first, apparently the worker did not click their car into race mode so Michaela and Joelle ended up in front of her.

After the rides were done, it was game time.  Michaela and Megan played this Jurassic park game until they beat the game!

Before we called it a day the girls had to play Laser Play!  I think Maya ended up winning!

Bonding Time

Steve's daughter Michaela came to visit us during Fall Break.  Michaela is the oldest and lives in Nebraska.  Here they are at the movies!  We watched the BoxTrolls.  It was cute.
Our next adventure was Amazing Jake's!  We were there for almost 5 hours, so obviously we had fun, right!!
First we tried rock climbing.  Joelle did not have this same smile on her face after she began climbing.  She started crying saying that she couldn't go further because she was afraid of heights!!

Megan and Michaela fared better than Joelle but neither of them reached the top.  They tried!!

The Frog Hopper!  The big girls loved it, but Joelle was VERY nervous!  She had bug eyes and stared straight ahead.  She held on to the bar from the top and the bottom!  After she got off she said she would not go on it again!

Next was the roller coaster!  It actually goes much faster than you would think.  It goes forward then it stops and goes backward.  Joelle and Maya loved it!  They went on it too many times to count!

Megan and Michaela enjoyed it as well, but once was enough for them!
